Our Story
Welcome! I’m Lisa
I’m a preschool director/owner, teacher, and proud mom of six. So basically, a full-time juggler ;-)
I've been in education for over 30 years. After graduation, I started my career as a first-grade teacher. I was so passionate about education that I continued graduate studies at Long Island University, Columbia University, and Bank Street College of Education, earning multiple advanced degrees. I'm also a certified Montessori teacher. And throw in a health coach and children's yoga instructor, too!
Like you, I'm an educator at heart. I've worked hard to be the best teacher and school administrator I can be. My ongoing struggle has been with business and technical skills, which are needed. It can be tough to keep up with all the changing digital trends that younger parents are used to. It was frustrating to feel like I had to make tradeoffs between my main priority, education, and keeping up with office work. My office has sometimes looked like a sea of post-it notes, my inbox flooded with emails, and my phone ringing constantly.
Our industry faced unprecedented challenges, which led to even more technology needs, such as remote meetings. However, within this chaos, I observed something extraordinary. More and more, centers were connecting online to share ideas and support each other. There was a connection that was growing. At my own center, a similar pattern of community and connection was building between teachers, parents, and myself. Our mantra became "We're all in this together" and "Together, we're stronger." This led to some amazing outcomes, and our classrooms began to flourish as we moved to a fully outdoor school and tapped into the power of community.
Then came COVID-19
OneVillage was born
These experiences moved and inspired me as the culture around us improved, and children had wonderful experiences. I saw an opportunity to build and spread these ideas. And so, during the pandemic, OneVillage was born. I enlisted my husband, Jason, who worked in IT, and we focused on two goals:
Build and grow an online community for providers.
Create the simplest tour management tool that saves time, reduces stress, and grows enrollment
We've been working day and night since then, going through many versions to ensure the product is as simple and usable for centers as possible. I hope you'll join our village to connect, grow, and even laugh as you build your own village. We're here for you, and together we're stronger!
